Player (preview mode)
Here player means preview mode: the article is shown as readers will see it on the site, without widget chrome or tool panels.
Enter and exit
- In edit mode, click Play in the left header or press V.
- In preview, use Edit (or V again) to return to editing.
When you open preview, the editor tries to keep your place: scroll is adjusted so the content you were looking at in edit mode stays roughly centered.
What you see
- A narrow column in the center with the article layout (similar to a device frame).
- Side margins like in a browser.
- Vertical handles on the sides of the column — drag them to change preview width and check the layout at different widths.
Preview width
- By default, width follows the frame selected on the canvas (if the selection includes a frame, that frame’s width is used). Otherwise the widest frame in the article is used.
- After you drag the handles manually, width is not overwritten by selection changes until you use a preset again (see below).
- The phone / desktop icon in the header (preview mode) toggles between a narrow and a wider preset so you can quickly compare two common widths without typing pixels.
In preview, the zoom control shows the column width in pixels (instead of canvas zoom percentage in edit mode).
Breakpoints
Preview uses one chosen column width. Which breakpoint frame inside the article becomes active at that width follows the rules in Breakpoints: Breakpoint frames and their width ranges.
